Cathy Burghi (Uruguay 1980) satirizes occidental culture, sexuality, and gender stereotypes in her particular and humorous way. Often utilizing found objects, she makes provocative, drawings, sculptures, installations, video, and mixed media works on paper or ceramic, full of Freudian implications. She proposes a playful art where nature, fruits, birds, female legs, high heels or breasts craft new and free bodies.

An anti-didactic feminist who finds her own language, fun and fantastic, Burghi lived in France and nowadays is based in Brazil, countries that may influence her work.
