Julia Castagno (Uruguay 1977) works around the World of the Despicable in the Global Era: Feminism, Biopower, Consumer Society, Coexistence and Defense of Human Rights. She incorporates in her practice video, writing, installation, painting, sculpture, interventions and actions in the urban environment. His installations and sculptures of subtle geometric forms stand out with the use of materials from everyday life, such as toothpicks and different woods, glasses, bottles and glass, intervening and giving them a new life. 

She has represented Uruguay at the Havana Biennial, Santiago de Chile, Mercosur Biennial, Montevideo Biennial, and San Pablo-Valencia Meeting. She has received important prizes and has been exhibited in solo shows and group exhibitions in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Lima, Madrid, Paris and New York.
